Main Stage Series

TRIP TO BOUNTIFUL

By Horton Foote

This beautifully nostalgic play by one of America's preeminent playwrights is the story of Carrie Watts, an aging widow living with her son and somewhat overbearing daughter-in-law in a three room flat in Houston, Texas, 1953. Despairing of the bleak situation in which she finds herself - way down, but not out - Carrie plans her escape. If she can just get back home to Bountiful, life will be better. Her journey back, the people she encounters, the lessons she and her family learn, endow her with a sense of strength and dignity that  give her the courage to survive.
