The Seminar, chaired by Bill LeCato of Hospice, will discuss various aspects of Addiction and its consequences here on the Shore.

The Panel, pulled together by John Bulette, will be composed of representatives from the Drug Task Force, Commonwealth Attorney’s Office, Parole Office, Psychiatry, and Hospice.

These seminars are occasionally rescheduled or postponed on short notice. Prospective attendees are urged to check the Seminar’s website (www.SciPhi.org) within two days of a scheduled date.

The Science and Philosophy Seminar is an informally organized group of adults that meets more or less regularly to explore and discuss a wide array of topics, ranging from philosophical speculation to scientific research.

Individual Seminar members generally lead the group’s meetings. Occasionally, speakers from outside of the group are invited to make presentations to the Seminar. All Seminar presentations are open to the public. No admission fees are charged

Local and national carvers and artists exhibit their work.  Awards are given in various carving categories, art and photography.  Special awards are given for best carving display and best art display.  There is also a Children’s Choice Award given for a favorite artist.  The Curtis Merritt Award of Excellence is awarded to the exhibitor who displays excellence as an individual as well as an artist and/or carver.  This award is voted on by the exhibitors.  There will be hand carved and/or painted wooden Easter Eggs designed by various exhibitors which will be offered in a silent auction.  An auction of Pre-loved Treasures has been a festival highlight in recent years.

Featured carvers and artists include Johnny Arthur, Vic & Ellen Berg, Jimmy Bowden, Roy Bohn, Marge & Brad Bradach, Dale Buffington, Bill Cowen, Rocky Detwiler, Corky Dize, David Farlow Jr., Russell Fish, Robert Gray Jr., Bill Hickson, James Johnson, Ed Kuhn, Lori & Ernie Lauer, Carroll Marshall, Cork McGee, Ron Roseiszewski, Ron Stevens, Bill & Shannon Veasey, Mike & Sue Veasey, Ray Whetzel, Ryan Wooster, Miguel Alvarez, Raymond Bell, Grover Cantwell, Lois Gilbert, David Hughes, Ellen Lawler, Paul Makuchal, Kevin McBride, Chris Stuebbe, Rose Taylor, Donnie Thornton, Richard Toft, Yvonne Torelli, Mary Lou Troutman, Kathern Welsh, and Nancy Richards West. What a lineup of talent under one roof!

The proceeds of this year's silent auction of Pre-Loved Treasures will benefit "The Chincoteague Island Life History Project", a joint effort by the Museum of Chincoteague Island and Chincoteague Island Library to preserve the stories of Chincoteague Island legends for generations to come. Interviews will be recorded during the show and some of the already documented histories will be available for viewing. Contact Ennis Barbery at the Museum of Chincoteague Island to recommend someone to be included in this fascinating tribute to the people of the islands. The Pre-Loved Treasures silent auction and the decorated wooden eggs silent auction will end at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 4.

Ribbons will be awarded for Best Art Display, Best Carver, Best Photograph of Chincoteague and Assateague, Children's Choice, and The Curtis Merritt Award of Excellence.
