Discover, Interact, Explore, Have Fun

The ultimate high energy adventure cruise with hands-on feet-wet mind-on experiences.

“An interactive experience that differs from all the others”

Hop aboard, kick off your shoes and get ready for an adventure you'll never forget.

We go on an interactive skill building experience. We will be on a floating classroom, a research vessel with hands-on feet wet lessons.

One of the many things we will be doing is getting off the boat on the sandbars to go dig in in the mud for clams. Maybe we can catch some and eat them!

Then back on the boat to cruise to a cramping spot where you will be pulling crab pots on board to identify and see the day's catch. If you have the courage I will teach you how to hold a crab without getting pinched.

Navigating our way to Shell Island Beach we stop to get off the boat for some shell collecting.

Back on the boat to hunt for jellyfish, the captain's favorite thing.

Then we haul in the trawler net to see that it is full of marine life and sea creatures!... this is always a challenge.

Then slow the boat down to enter the shallow waters to identify the birds.

We use all of our senses – sound, touch, taste, and smell – to make our cruises informative and fun.

There is never any pressure, always lots of fun.... you can relax, sit back on the boat and be the official photographer, or you can get into it. This is the real deal to get your hands dirty and feet wet so you will experience the life of the Chincoteague Waterman.

Experience The Wonderful Waters of Chincoteague

We are a non profit organization serving the Chincoteague area Charterboat Captains and members. The waters of Chincoteague Island on Virginia's Eastern Shore on the Atlantic ocean offer a great variety of recreation to provide you memorable experiences of sport and relaxation from April through October.

Chincoteague's off-shore Fishing rivals the best in the Mid-Atlantic, with excellent catches of bluefin and yellowfin tuna, as well as dolphin, marlin, wahoo and king mackerel. Wreck fishing for sea bass is also very productive, with many large tautug being caught along with triggerfish, blues and spadefish. The in-shore fishing produces plentiful catches of flounder along with croaker, sea trout, and sea bass.

Scenic cruises offer the opportunity to explore the many fascinating areas around the channels, coves and marshes of the Chincoteague and Assateague waters. You will enjoy nature, the abundance of birds and wildlife, historic and scenic places. You will also have a chance to see the famous wild ponies, bald eagles, and atlantic bottle nose dolphins.

DIG EM! Kayak Clams/Oysters Tour

True Clam Connoisseurs know that Cherrystone Creek on Virginia’s Eastern Shore is the place to go for the world’s best littlenecks. The locals say the only way to make them better is to dig them yourself. On the SouthEast Expeditions Kayak Clamming trip, that’s exactly what you’ll do. As part of our partnership with a local, family owned clam farm, our guides will show you how clam Aqua-culture has grown to become one of the largest industries on the Eastern Shore.

After you learn the tricks of the trade, it’s time to get out of your boats and get to work. You and your family will be digging for your dinner just like Eastern Shore residents have done for generations. The $50 cost of the trip includes your first dozen clams. Additional clams are available at the wholesale market rate. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to learn how Eastern Shore “Aqua-farmers” raise, care for, and harvest the clams you’ll find in the finest restaurants in the region.

If Aqua-culture seems like a little more culture than you prefer, we also offer a “Wild Clam Wrangling” Kayak Tour. Get down and dirty on the Seaside of the Shore and learn how to “sign” for wild clams. The cost is the same, but what you take home for dinner depends on the skills you develop in the marsh.
